GRAFFITITECTURE
Speculative Research Series
Ongoing_conceptual
Graffititecture is a speculative series of images focused on re-imagining famous architectural works as canvases for street art. Both architects and street artists talk about the social narratives within their work. Historically however, architects and architecture has been a sign of success and power, while street artists and graffiti has been banished to the social dungeon.
By plastering the walls of famous architecture with the graffiti of known and unknown artists a dialogue can be opened around the interaction between the alleged purity of architecture and the socio-political charge of street art. Is the architecture detracted from or enhanced? Does the street art change the way in which we view these famous works?
