Gasp is a beachside boardwalk that extends out from the lifeguard tower and descends into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario. Its bright exterior mimics the lifeguard tower and provides a jarring contrast to the surrounding stark and frozen landscape. It draws people in. It invites them to move along its path as it slowly descends into the lake and the walls of the walk rise towards their head. As they move further from the shoreline a quick glance back frames the lifeguard tower. a reminder of rescue’s clasp.
