The Grass Station clients came to us with a name and a vision; create a dispensary unlike any other that encompassed the essence of what gas stations were historically. With both the clients and ourselves having strong connections to the prairies that's where we started. Scouring through historic photographs of 1930s to 50s era service stations a common thread emerged. Service stations were community places where friendly faces and quality service were merged with the raw materiality of steel and wood and signified by iconic design elements; signs, pumps and canopies.
With an authentic palette and restrained design, the grass station harkens back to a simpler time, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere to browse, chat, and sit a spell.
Of course, no old gas station was without its unique history and the Grass Station is no different. The wood used to clad the interior was salvaged by the client from a secret grow-op room uncovered in a property they purchased. A one of a kind twist for a one of a kind dispensary.
